Senses of the Mellah: A Night in Jewish Morocco

Fifty-five people explored the tastes, smells, and sounds of the centuries-old Mellahs, the Jewish quarters of Moroccan cities. Koutoubia Owner and Chef Michel Ohayon opened his space up to us and shared his story as a Moroccan Jew immigrating to LA. With lots of henna and harissa to go around, we were transported into the historic Jewish quarters that are still active and vibrant today.
