Masks! Heroes! Secret identities! The parallels between comic books and Purim aren’t just narrative—many comic book icons originated from young Jewish artists and their reimagination of biblical ideas. Join us for a night of drinks, art, and creativity at a hands-on studio class to explore these overlapping values and themes through paper cutting and collage.

This pop-up studio workshop will be led by Isaac and Rabbi Shawna Brynjegard-Bialik, a husband and wife “dynamic duo” specializing in comic books, paper-cutting, and connecting pop culture with sacred texts. Their art has been shown in galleries across the United States, and they regularly lead workshops to bring Jewish scholarship together with a contemporary reinterpretation of the traditional art of papercutting.
