Disco Jaan: A Nowruz Celebration

With NuRoots and 30 Years After, and curated by Jonathan York
Location: Westwood
Date/Time: Saturday 3/26 | 8:00 pm

  • This event has passed.

For thousands of years, Nowruz—the Persian New Year—has marked the beginning of spring, and Persians around the globe gather with friends and family to revel in heritage, history, and a new day. Above all, Nowruz is a celebration of life, and an affirmation of it in harmony with nature and with one another.
NuRoots and 30 Years After are proud to present Disco Jaan (Jaan, in Farsi, means life), and we invite you to join our community as we delight in the music, flavors, and sights of Persian culture. Journey back in time with us to the funky underground of 1970s Iran, with its bold art and psychedelic sound. Together, we will celebrate the richness, creativity, and dynamism of our diaspora. Put on your dancing shoes and prepare to disco!
Please note that in order to attend, all guests must be fully vaxxed and able to show proof of vaccination.
The Y&S Nazarian Initiative of L.A.’s Jewish Federation and NuRoots honors and celebrates Iranian heritage and culture.
