Election Day 2020
- This event has passed.
Jews have been involved in politics for a biblically long time. The Jewish people have always cultivated community and collective action—sourcing funds for ancient temples, developing solutions for public safety (like flooding) and health (like leprosy), and even mandating that a minimum of ten people be present to pray. And American Jews have a particularly important history when it comes to voting: Unlike nearly every other country in the world, our recognition as citizens with the right to vote domestically dates back to most of the pre-1776 British colonies.
Jewish wisdom teaches us that while we are not obligated to complete the work, we are not free to desist from it, either. Regardless of political leaning, let’s all take part. Visit nuroots.org/vote for resources around the 2020 Election.
