Travel with us to Central America! On October 23, NuRoots is teaming up with Jewtina y Co.—a grassroots, anti-racist organization exploring the Jewish-Latinx community and experience—to bring you a virtual Shabbat dinner celebrating Latin American Jewish community and highlighting El Salvador.

We’ll be joined by Jewtina’s Community Coordinator Kimmy Dueñas, who will share anecdotes from the small Salvadoran Jewish community (totaling no more than three hundred Jews today), and stories of her own family’s roots and immigration journey.

Our Shabbat will include a full traditional vegetarian Salvadoran meal from an L.A. restaurant and fresh challah, and we’ll send you off with a special challah recipe from the Dueñas family bakery for you to make the following week.Gather with us for a vibrant night of storytelling, music, rituals, and more!
