The Festival of Cheese: A Shavuot Hike and Cheese Tasting
- This event has passed.
Ever wonder why we eat dairy on Shavuot? Ever wonder what Shavuot is?
Join NuRoots Young Couples to kick off our Summer Celebrations Hiking Series for a Shavuot hike! We will be exploring the holiday that celebrates us receiving the Torah and 10 commandments with a feast of cheese. Each month this summer we will be celebrating a Jewish holiday and highlighting the themes and messages of the holiday through a hike and beyond.
Sunday, June 9
For Shavuot we will be hiking our own Mount Sinai, and celebrating with a cheese tasting lead by our very own community member, Jacqueline Weiss at the top of the canyon.
We will meet at 2:45pm to begin our hike promptly at 3pm. There is no cost to attend this event. All you need is an open mind, some comfy shoes, and perhaps a few lactaid pills. There will also be a couple vegan cheese options if that is more your style. We can’t wait to begin hiking the mountains and canyons of Los Angeles with you this summer!
This is a private event for young couples. For more information or any questions please contact us at NuRoots@JewishLA.org.
NuRoots sparks relationships and experiences that inspire individuals in their 20s and 30s to build meaningful community driven by reimagined Jewish life and creative Jewish expression.
