CLI Mentorship Program: Our Mission
The Community Leadership Institute (CLI) leverages the experiences, knowledge, and networks of Jewish philanthropic leaders across generations. Over the course of the CLI program, mentors serve as guides and role models, supporting participants as they develop their own leadership skills. Participants offer gratitude and camaraderie, but they also offer a fresh perspective, and the chance for mentors to help shape them as future leaders of the Los Angeles Jewish community.
Some things cannot be learned in a classroom. Mentors’ shared experiences, perspectives, and tips are all essential parts of the CLI program. What would they have done differently? How did they learn their most important lesson? What wisdom can they impart onto the future leaders of the Jewish community?
Over the course of this 15-month program, there are specific commitments required of all CLI Mentors, including: One-on-one meetings every four to six weeks, as well as attendance at a CLI Mentor Night, skill building sessions, a summer party, and the community graduation.
CLI encourages mentors and mentees to make the most out of their time together. They might have Shabbat dinner, meet up with another mentor/mentee pair, discuss advice over coffee, or share their favorite books. Each mentor/mentee pair is unique, so we urge them to connect in their own ways.
