Alexi Biener

Donor Experience Associate
Alexi is charged with increasing young adult philanthropic support to the Federation. She finds great meaning in hearing what inspires young adults to give back, but you can always find her dancing and singing along to the Pitch Perfect soundtracks.

Anastasia Shostak

Program Assistant, Birthright Israel and Immersive Experiences
Anastasia moved to LA from Moscow, Russia a couple of years ago. Back there she worked at local Hillel, involving students in Jewish life. She is a book worm who loves dogs and Russian food.

Ari Naamani-Goldman

Director, NuRoots Community Experiences
Ari moved to LA from New York, where he served as president of the Alzheimer’s Association’s young professionals committee and launched its outreach program. He also worked as a sound designer, and produced soundtracks for Lincoln Center, the United Nations, and the Louvre.

Ariela Wallace

Program Director, NuRoots Community Experiences 
Ariela is happy to be back in LA engaging the Jewish young professionals in a diverse offering of events and programs. Ariela spent several years in New York before moving to Mumbai, India to work with the Indian Jewish community. Outside of work she loves to read, hike, and travel when possible.

Becca Haiken

Donor Relations Associate
Becca is a NY transplant charged with creating relationships and increasing young adult philanthropic support to the Federation. She finds great meaning in hearing what inspires young adults to give back and helping them navigate their Jewish journey. Outside of work you can find her spinning, reading and hanging with her dog.

Chelsea Snyder

Assistant Director, NuRoots Community Fellowship-Valley
Chelsea loves building Jewish community in underserved areas. She loves brunch, the beach, The Dodgers, live performance, conscious music festivals, camping, and travel. Chelsea is an activist, artist, writer, actor- focusing on social action performance-body positivity, visibility, and diversity on stage and social media.

Deirdre Dooley

Program Assistant, Community Leadership Institute (CLI)
Deirdre assists in all things CLI, such as the opening retreat, monthly sessions, Israel trip and graduation. In her free time, she can be found lounging on a chaise reading a book or solving a crossword puzzle.

Donna Maher

Assistant Director, Y&S Nazarian Family Foundation Iranian Community Outreach
Donna is a first-generation Iranian American who is passionate about leadership, unifying the Jewish community, and making impact. Her professional background is in marketing strategy and in her free time she enjoys dancing, outdoor activities, and experiential personal development.

Gamal Palmer

Senior Vice President, Leadership Development
Gamal is dedicated to empowering young adults to tap into their passions and helping them leverage their skills to address issues important to them. He is an avid cyclist and loves extreme sports.

Ian Schiffer

Assistant Director, NuRoots Community Fellowship-Midcity
Ian (he/him) is a white Ashkenazi justice weaver and tender warrior born and raised in Tovaanger with ancestral roots in Eastern Europe. He loves to listen, sing, and co-build loving community. He’s committed to transformative power of circle, communal care, expanding solidarity, and ancestral healing for collective liberation.

Jason Leivenberg

Senior Vice President of NuRoots
Hailing from “the Valley,” Jason believes that everything connects to everything else, which is why bringing people together doing good in the world gets him up in the morning. He is a baseball fanatic, caffeine enthusiast, and burger fiend.

Jonathan Grunin

Assistant Director, Israel Advocacy
Jonathan works with Jewish student leaders to build coalitions on campus to achieve their goals. He enjoys being on campuses working directly with college students and consulting with them as Israel advocates, student government candidates, and/or agents of change in their communities.

Laura Schiff

Assistant Director, NuRoots Community Fellowship-Couples
Laura is an East Coast girl who moved to LA for love. She is excited to start her married life exploring LA, while getting to know other young couples around the city. Originally from Philly and with a stint in NY, Laura is a dessert aficionado, former Frogger world champion, and a new hiker. She loves going to concerts, traveling, and checking out anything that sounds weird and wonderful.

Liron Fisch

Program Assistant, NuRoots
Liron is an artist from Maryland who is passionate about sharing and experiencing Jewish traditions. She loves exploring LA, spending time in nature, and making delicious shakshuka!

Lilah Kalfus

Young Adult Event & Program Coordinator
As a mixture of Latin and Yankee roots, Lilah loves exploring the diverse communities of LA. She is thrilled to engage peers in professional development, social, and spiritual activities. You can usually find her food shopping for her next dinner party, hiking around LA, or playing with her cat, Ricky Ricardo.

Molly Buckman

Assistant Director, Leadership Development
Molly is an LA native who has spent much time in Israel and several years in the Midwest. A clinically trained social worker, Molly works to build relationships with motivated young adults, Jewish organizations, and dedicated lay leaders to help develop the next generation of leaders in the Jewish community. In her spare time, she loves listening to podcasts, hiking, and being in the sunshine.

Mary Kohav

Vice President, Community Engagement Programs
Mary oversees our community engagement programs, as well as the Rautenberg New Leaders Project (NLP)—a premier civic leadership program of which she is a proud graduate. When she’s not chilling with her two kids and puppy, Mary’s the person you want to drag with you to karaoke after she’s cooked you an amazing dinner.

Nina Rose Carlin

Assistant Director, NuRoots Community Fellowship-Westside/Intergen
Originally from New York, Nina has called the Westside home since graduating Occidental College. Nina’s an avid writer and performer in the Los Angeles theatre scene, and loves exploring the natural beauty that California has to offer. Nina can be found drinking way too much coffee at a Venice beach cafe, catching a concert, or swimming in the ocean.


Oren Peleg

Assistant Director, NuRoots Community Fellowship-Eastside
Originally from the Bay Area, Oren has called LA’s Eastside home for the last 8+ years. During his time in LA, he has worked on soap operas and animated films and spent time as a manny (yes, a male nanny). He’s all about bringing people together, good sandwiches, and good books. If you need him, he’s probably at a coffee shop in Los Feliz or hitting the courts of Silver Lake raining threes like Steph Curry.

Orly Frank

Program Director, Strategic Initiatives
Orly spends her time building relationships with her Brawerman Fellows who attend colleges all over the US. She loves guiding and being a part of their Jewish journey. She is married, has two boys, loves traveling and visiting spas.

Rose Prevezer

Director, NuRoots Community Fellowship
Rose is a displaced Brit who loves LA. A rabbi, writer, and birth worker, she believes strongly in the power of arts and culture to enhance the Jewish conversation and create connection, and is passionate about developing unique pathways for spiritual and creative communal engagement. Rose lives in Venice Beach with her husband and daughter (who might just be the most incredible child the world has ever seen).

Roxanna Donay Zevin

Sr. Director, NuRoots Strategic Partnerships 
Roxy works with Jewish organizations in Los Angeles serving college students and young adults to ensure that meaningful programs are created through a mosaic of experiences. Roxy caught the travel bug as a teenager, and in the last 10+ years she has traveled to 15 states and eight different countries – and she has the photos to prove it!

Sarah Austin

Director, Birthright Israel & Immersive Experiences
Sarah loves helping people get to Israel. This makes her perfect for her role as she oversees the Federation’s LA Way trips, Onward Israel, and more. A SoCal native who spent many years traveling the globe she is happy to be back in L.A.

Sasha Zlobina

Assistant Director, NuRoots Community Fellowship-RSJ
Sasha designs dynamic events for Russian-speaking Jewish young professionals. Originally from Odessa, Ukraine, Sasha can be seen at LA’s best restaurants.

Shahar Weiner

Program Director, Birthright Israel
Shahar is originally from Kfar Yona, Israel and has been living in LA for the past 6 years. She began her Birthright Israel experience as an Israeli soldier before transitioning to the “American” side, and she’s got you covered if you’re looking to go to Israel! If you’re ever having a bad day don’t hesitate to call – she’ll cheer you up by singing to you in 14 different languages!
